In one dream, I'm a little girl (I think) wearing a white cotton nightgown. I'm running through old stone hallways full of doors. Each door opens to an old bedroom, dusty and cold, with a dead bed in the middle of it...just a frame of metal and wire without a mattress. Each is lit like an old basement room...filtered greyish and silent through mildew-stained glass, dust motes swirling like ghosts in the weak light. Someone is chasing me. The door at the end of the hallway is the only room that seems alive and has color...but it is the Queen's room, and the Queen is mad. Her servant always says that she cannot be disturbed because she is sleeping and ushers me out. Her room is bright with reds and whites and warmth, but I am always shoved back into a greyscale world of stone walls and stalking death. At the other end of the hallway there is a stone room with a single open gate. The gate leads to a bridge made of lights and clouds that crosses into another place, maybe another world, but no matter how I try to cross I always end up back in the same cold stone room. A man in a black cloak is searching for me. Now and then his cloak moves and I see bright red skin as though he were boiled alive, or a though he were a devil. He wants me because I am still a virgin (wtf?) but I don't get the sense that his interest in me is at all sexual. The Queen is too mad to help me and her servants don't care. I hide under a wireframe bed that I know he can see through in the dark and wait for the inevitable.
In the second dream, several people are sittng in round booths at a restaurant smiling, having drinks and sharing friendship. It is war time and this place is one of few where there can be found a civilized sort of peace. My view switches to a soldier driving a car. Someone shoots him in the head and I see him as though looking up at him from under the steering wheel as his head drops and begins to bleed, his body going limp as the car speeds towards the restaurant. In a booth with some friends is a very old man and woman, very richly dressed and classy in appearance. As the soldier's car crashes through the wall of the restaurant and launches into the air towards the booth, the old man looks up and puts up his hand in a "stop" gesture, and time freezes save for him and his wife. She looks at him as he gets up and moves around to sit next to her. He puts his arm around her and tells her, "In all the hundreds of years that I have been alive, you are the one thing that has always kept me interested. It's been a good life, and I love you, but it's finally our time." She nods and doesn't seem sad as she smiles and kisses him and puts her arms around him in return. He holds her for a moment, then gestures with his hand once again and life springs back into roaring motion. The vehicle crashes into the table and the restaurant explodes into flame, killing everyone inside instantly.
